St Gregory's RC School
Bedford - New Gymnasium
The proposal is to construct a multi-purpose free standing
gymnasium structure to the south of the main school building
in the grassed and fenced area that used to contain grass
tennis courts many years ago. The gym will provide a
multipurpose 14m x 26m x 7m high court space for activities
like basketball, badminton, volley ball, archery, gymnastics
and also provide a mezzanine level above the change and
store areas for fitness and viewing use.
The building will be a simple, modern structure finished in
highly insulated render cladding and incorporate brick panels
to tie in and harmonise with the existing school. The main
entrance face of the gym is turned 90 degrees to the axis of
the main school to maintain views to the rear apse of the
existing hall and create a defined grassed area. Planning
Approval 2014. Awaiting funding.
