The London Basement Blog -
Work Completed April 2014
Work started in earnest on September 1st, 2013. Karol and his
hardworking team from basement contractor "RoomBelow"
had set up the site at the end of August so we arrived back
from our holiday in Ireland to find an immaculate hoarded
shed in our front garden complete with its own power, water,
conveyor belt and tea making facilities.
By the end of September they had formed the front light well,
re-routed the incorming gas and power and progressed
nearly halfway under the ground floor slab, propping and
underpinning as they went. (no treasure found)
The cutting of the slab to open up the void for the new stair
was carried out on November 11th, 2013 and all structural
work and waterproofing was completed by December 1st.
This allowed us to instruct our carpenter, plumber,
electrician, plasterer and painter to start work after
Christmas. All fitout works were complete by April 2014 and
as of April 2018 we have been using the space for nearly 4
years thus creating a modern 4 story vertical terrace house
out of what was a 1960's two up two down town house when
we purchased it back in 1998.
